14 Jun Hagen a lucky place for the Irish juniors
(Hagen a.T.W.) The Junior Nation’ Cup was the centre of attention this afternoon: six nations competed in an exciting show jumping competition over two rounds and kept team-mates, spectators and trainers on the edge of their seats. The Irish juniors succeeded in defending their title in Hagen after their superior victory last year. Two riders, Gary Dooley with Csf Olympic Jewel and Emily Moloney on Temple Alice, achieved double clear rounds. Only James Brennan and Mhs Im The One had a knockdown in the second round. However, this put the Irish team around James Kernan so far in the lead that the last rider, Coen Williams with Conthanja, did not have to ride at all in the second round.
Hagen seems to be a lucky place for the Irish juniors, as James Kernan happily confirms: “Hagen — I love it! We are very pleased with the result and love coming here. This is a great preparation show, it gets us ready for the European Championships. If we can do what we did last year, win the gold medal in the Juniors and also the Young Riders… I can’t understand, why there are not more teams here, it’s a fabulous show with a super organisation. We’d love more competition, it makes us strong and tough for the Europeans.”
German juniors in second place
Second place with eight penalty points went to the German team of Fabio Thielen and Stakaya, Naomi Himmelreich and Flying Kiss, Max Merschformann and Dorotheental’s Classica and Tony Stormanns on Dia Nova. The pressure was on Stormanns as the last rider in the competition, but the 2024 German Young Show Jumping Champion mastered the challenge with flying colours. He remained clear in both rounds with the Diamant de Revel grey mare. “Dia Nova was in good form tonight, she’s at her best. Last year I was unlucky that I wasn’t allowed to ride her, but this year we are both in good form. The course suited us and everything was perfect! I’m already relieved: fourth man, double clear, that’s a good feeling. If I am nominated, then this will definitely be my horse for the European Championships,’ said Stormanns after the Nations Cup. The Dutch team completed the podium ahead of Belgium, Great Britain and Norway.
The Future Champions also offer excitement and sport in the dressage arena and jumping stadium on Saturday and Sunday. In addition to the international youth competitions, the event at Hof Kasselmann also offers a small shopping mile including a range of food and drink. Spectators are very welcome, admission is free! ClipMyHorse.TV will also be broadcasting live from Hagen.
